I’ve read countless reviews...
Ive read countless reviews about incompetence, unfairness, and how this system serves the interests of big businesses while often playing dirty. I had no expectations and was mostly curious about the process.
Unsurprisingly, the decision was in favor of the big business. The entire process was laughable - corporate lawyers didnt even try hard, as if they already knew the arbitration would side with them.
The appointed arbitrator had online reviews labeling him as lazy and dishonest, which matched my experience.
It felt like he didnt bother to review the evidence or materials and simply made the "right decision" for the corporation.
This is not the place to seek justice, nor should anyone support these so-called "independent parties." Negative reviews receive generic responses like, "We understand you're upset," or "You can appeal." Im not upset, Im just sharing my experience, where proving 2+2 equals 4 - or even 22 - would still fail if big business claimed otherwise.
I hope to warn others considering this path. Dont expect your case to be thoroughly reviewed or the decision to be fair.

Verified ReviewerCompletely Unfair and biased to Thumbtack/Vendor
This complaint is against FairClaims for not being fair. As a homeowner, we hired a contractor to perform flooring work and they caused several damages, introduced surprise charges, denied providing warranties, and did not clean up after the work.
We reached out to Thumbtack and Thumbtack suggested we file through FairClaims. We provided all supporting evidence and logical proof with photos and message discussions.
However, they favored the decision of the contractor despite all our proofs and the contractor lying on several instances. I do not think that FairClaims is unbiased and I would not recommend anyone to use it.

Verified Reviewer |HIGHLY BAISED AND TOTALLY UNFAIR TO ALL EVIDENCES
Despite all the evidences provided by us - homeowners - they ignored all and favored the party they get paid from - Thumbtack - who indirectly gets paid from the contractors. I'll never recommend anyone to use Fair Claims. Such a waste of time and trust.

Arbitrator GROSSLY failed to review our documents
We hired a contractor from Angi's list so called professionals in Dallas, TX. They did a HORRIBLE job.
Not only did they delay the project because they were running other businesses and not showing up every day to finish our project. They did a trashy paint job, they did not show up to work every day. They rushed the job at the end and claimed items listed on the contract were not part of the contract. They did not own up to their trash work.
They lied under oath during the arbitration. Yet the arbitrator made a decision in their favor and GROSSLY ignored our evidence. STAY AWAY FROM FAIRCLAIMS..The arbitrator is an independent contractor for Fairclaims which has a contract with Angi's list. It makes sense now that the arbitrator would favor Fairclaims pocket & Angi's list reputation.
. It's a joke go to court where your case can be heard ethically.
Filing to vacate. This is ridiculous.
User's recommendation: DO NOT USE FAIRCLAIMS-It's a joke

Verified ReviewerRespondents, RUN. This is not justice. FairClaims does not care about you or the facts/evidence.
The arbitrator spent an incredibly small amount of time on our case. They didn't care that the claimant had no evidence of contracts with the vendors she claimed she paid but was unable to fully utilize because of a mistake I, the respondent made.
I made a very small, honest mistake and got thrown into Fairclaims. I wasn't fighting that I made a mistake, but I tried to argue that the claimant was asking for way too much and many things that didn't apply or were just exaggerated. The claimant had no evidence of contracts, had me pay for $1k+ worth of clothing that they still own, could've returned, the receipts included toilet paper and miscellanious things that had nothing to do with the Music Video that got cut short. I offered refunds right off the bat, new time in my studio, and honestly everything I could in good faith and in reason.
I wanted to find a solution, but never in a million years did I think the arbitrator would have me pay for the full dispute amount, because MOST of what the claimant was claiming as a loss wasn't backed with evidence or proof. And was definitely exaggerated. I would have respected and been happy to cover what was truly owed, but this feels like a massive form of manipulating the system.
Fairclaims wants to get their claims through as fast as they can. They don't care.
It's probably a quick buck for arbitrators, and you can't fight the result without spending big money on lawyers. I spent weeks preparing a case, and got a total of 10 mins of speaking time with the arbitrator. And the arbitrator seemed to find one term that was to their liking and not look into the rest of what was brought to the table. There was no consideration into the lack of evidence.
They just took the claimants word for it. This was not justice.
- Unjust
- Dont care about evidence or facts
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Run run run away from FairClaims if you're the respondent. They do not care about you.
Fairclaims is a joke
I wish I had read the reviews prior to agreeing to use this service.
If I had, I would have opted to go to small claims court instead, where my case would have been taken seriously.
I don't know how this company and it's mediators can be legitimate in the eyes of the law. I've been through real mediation in court and this was nothing like it.
I regret ever using this service and will warn everyone to avoid it.
User's recommendation: Do Not Use Fairclaims
Service is Laughable
Using this service to resolve my case is the worst mistake I could have made.
I definitely should have taken the Respondent to court. I would have stood a much better chance.
I won my case but I am not satisfied. The arbitrators clearly don't consider actual evidence and will believe anything that is told to them.
I've been to arbitration through court and this is nothing like a real arbitration.
If you're considering this service for your personal circumstance, I would advise against it.
You've been warned.

Review of how the claims went
Had a review with turo and they ignored my evidence causing me to lose $15,000 in damages. I provided exactly what they said

Verified ReviewerThey rushed through with zero care
Even though Inwon they rushed through, made spelling mistakes on their official decision showing they did not pay any attention at all, and rushed through with no care whatsoever. They also reduced my settlement claiming DJK environmental had re insulated the space despite me submitting multiple photos and videos showing that to not be the case.
I also provided evidence showing that all of DJKs statements under oath were false, but the lazy arbiter didn't even bother looking.
Next time I'll just go to court. It'd be impossible to be less apathetic than fairclaims.
- Lazily settle on half
- Dont bother looking at the evidence you submit
- Are totally apathetic
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Just go to court.
Did not properly take down my statement & forged documents
The arbitrator was biased from the beginning, stating that she was very familiar with construction contracts and how contractors work. She then went on to reiterate this later to me after I calmly read off all the same documented numbers I had sent as evidence.
She then mangled my spoken statement and had 3 different totals for what the client paid. The laughable one was a number $8,000 over the contracted finished price after the client admitted to paying 70-80 percent of the contracted total. What an absolute joke. FairClaims claims they are unbiased and honest.
FairClaims forged a computer generated signature on a document I never was presented nor was shown online. Best part is, it is the same exact font, style, and size as the claimants esign.
Whats even funnier is I have a saved Esign signature for all documents and this was far from it. Absolute scam.
- Biased
- Miscalculation of numbers
- Forged documents
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Stay away and if you are the defendant, refuse arbitration.
Fair claims decision was ridiculous
I had a painter completely fail to properly prepare a diy job for painting. He promised a first quality paint job but didnt bother to make sure surfaces were properly prepared.
The poor preparation made it impossible to do a first quality paint job.
Even though the texts and check dates showed the contractor only came back once to try to fix it and the pictures showed that it was not fixed, the arbitrator stated that he had come back twice after payment and that was enough effort even though he didnt remotely fix it, even though my witness stated it was not done right, and even though the painter promised in writing that my satisfaction was guaranteed. What a crock!

Verified Reviewer |Lack of oversight, dishonest contractor, or broken tech
Fairclaims.com FAQ: "We have the highest quality arbitrators who are experienced lawyers who went to top law schools. They are also friendly, approachable, and good communicators to ensure you have a great experience working with them."Here's another review (not mine) of the arbitrator assigned to my case.
Coincidence? I think not :(https://***/attorneys/10606-ny-bruce-steinowitz-858622.html"As an Arbitrator and Attorney he ignored evidence (to include pictures, text messages, and e-mail's all date and time stamped).
Instead, simply took someone else's word who submitted a severe lack of evidence in turn and lied under oath. I would not recommend him at all."
That the about page returns a 404 says it all. https://***/aboutWebsite up, nobody's home. Airbnb has more oversight on their customer's experience.
Either the FairClaims platform didn't share them with him or he did not see them.
I have screenshots from the platform even a week after teh decision stating the signed contracts and photo evidence we submitted is still up and visible. Either way, the tech or human failure is on them. 100% an issue that would not exist in a traditional legal setting.
Good idea, terrible tech execution, apparent lack of oversight and leadership. The service cost me $500 outright so good luck disagreeing.
Stephen - you really need to rethink this.
It's a beta at best until you have better oversight and tech. Have and will continue to share my personal experience with anyone I know.
- Its online
- Broken technology and contracted legal of questionable tenure
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Avoid. File a petition to change to traditional small claims where tehy adhere to the rule of law.
Unemployment Expert Tips
COMPLETELY UNFAIR DECISION after our company gave customer 50% OFF price on a SUPER LARGE carpet and furniture cleaning, arbitrator didn't even give us some type of percentage for ALL our work
Despite UNBELIEVABLE amounts of evidence we submitted, arbitrator TOTALLY IGNORED that evidence, which proved OUR credibility easily, compared to the customer's, and, DID NOT allow one of my KEY WITNESSES to speak, saying that the time was running short, even though arbitrator let the customer go on and on beforehand, talking about a bunch of things that weren't even directly proving his complaint ! Also, my key witness took time off from work to come and testify, so that makes it even MORE UNFAIR, not letting him testify for our reputable company !
Finally, the BIGGEST, MOST UNFAIR part of the arbitrators decision is the fact that after ALL the work we did, we were told to give him back ALL his money so we get NOTHING for ALL the work we did !!! UNBELIEVABLE !!!
FairClaims is HORRIBLE !!DON'T
- Terrible arbitrator
Preferred solution: They won't do anything about this.. Just a bunch of excuses !!
Total joke so dishonest
total joke they ruled for the contractor that trashed our floors and cost us $20,000. there was all the evidence supporting us and nothing supporting him.
a bunch of evil, incompetent thieves whats new? never use them.
- No pros
- Cons are they are incompetent and unjust
Preferred solution: this organization is incompetent and should be shut down
User's recommendation: dont use a total joke

Verified ReviewerFair Claims advertises itself as an arbitrator, but they only handle INSURANCE claims, even when the issue isn't insurance related...don't be fooled
Had a claim forceably handled by them that was a business practices claim. The defendant presented it as an insurance claim, but they openly don't provide insurance (TURO), they provide "protection that is not insurance". The arbitrator treated his response like an insurance claim instead of looking at the failed business practices.
Preferred solution: nothing...evidence they can handle claims that aren't insurance biased
User's recommendation: OPT OUT OF ANY ARBITRATION CLAUSE

I totally agree! I had the same issue with a company that I found on Angi and who did shoddy work.
The arbitrator seemed to have his mind made up during the first call that he would side for the company. When I asked the arbitrator to view one of the evidence pictures I had submitted, he said no.
